Special tours and workshops for school groups
Free admission to the museum for primary and secondary school groups (up to 25 pupils) and two accompanying adults – advance booking required
The museum offers two visit options for school groups:
Museum tour – combined with the magic sound tour
A guided tour of the museum to introduce young people to the wonderful world of mechanical musical instruments.
Children and teens will learn about the predecessors of streaming, discover the diversity and history of self-playing music automatons in a fun way, and learn new things by taking part in mini experiments on resonance, sound and mechanisms.
Every child can punch the answers to the 10 questions in the ‘magic sound tour’ on their own paper strip and play the finished tune on a music box at the end. This allows them to try out a centuries-old technique for recording tunes.
Suitable from 1st grade.
Duration: approx. 60 minutes (tour only)

Gloggomobil workshop
With the help of the Gloggomobil, children can immerse themselves in the world of mechanical music and create their own tune for a music box. They will also discover some examples of music automatons at the museum.
Suitable for 1st to 6th grade.
Duration: approx. 90 minutes
Teachers can prepare their class for the workshop using a free workbook. The workbook was designed for children in 3rd/4th grade, but also offers lesson ideas for younger and older children.
